Workshop title

Eight extraordinary vessels/qí jīng bā mài in the treatment of the heart shén and seven emotions/qī qíng

Workshop times

Workshop description

The eight extraordinary vessels (qí jīng bā mài) are a fascinating part of Chinese medicine and treatment. They were first mentioned in the Spiritual Pivot (Líng Shū/靈樞) which was written over 2,000 years ago. Since then they have been discussed only sporadically, that is until recently with an explosion of new content on the eight extraordinary vessels.

There is so much to learn about the eight extraordinary vessels; this workshop will be specific and target their use in the areas of heart shén imbalances and emotional turmoil.

David will give a brief overview of the eight extraordinary vessels and their functions, along with when/how to use them. Following this, each of the vessels will be analysed individually. He will introduce and discuss acupuncture point combinations for heart shén imbalances and emotional turmoil.

David says: ‘I’m sure you all get patients suffering from heart shén/emotional disturbances in your clinics – I know I do! This workshop is perfect to give you new tools to hopefully aid in your patients’ recovery. Or perhaps you are attending to be reminded of how amazing the eight extraordinary vessels are? Either way, please join me for this extraordinary workshop!’
