Workshop title

The triple heater and its relationship to the fire of the gate of life

Workshop times

Sunday 09.00-09.45

Workshop description

The Nanjing describes the gate of life as ‘the source of the qi of life’, ‘the qi that moves between the kidneys’, ‘the foundation of the five zang and six fu’, ‘the source of the three heaters’. It also designates the three heaters as the distributors of the qi of the gate of life throughout the body. We will look at these texts in order to explore the role of the triple heater in the balance of fire and water, transformation and distribution, and the enigmatic statement that the san jiao (triple heater) and xin zhu (heart master) ‘have name but do not have form’. The fire of the gate of life (ming men huo) is the transformational power of our life energy, able to connect us back to the origins of life – the information patterning of our life-destiny.
