Workshop title

A personalized Medicine using the concepts of three Yin three Yang and Constitutions

Workshop times

Sunday 1430 – 1600

Workshop description

Despite advancing genetics and genomics, it is hard to challenge that concepts of personalised medicine have always existed. Hence, attempts to further knowledge about a person to predict disease susceptibility, disease prognosis, or treatment response and, thereby, improve that person's health is universal beyond time. Welcoming the advancement of various types of “-omics” and psychosomatic science on individual differences, I contend it worthy of critically reviewing the existing concepts in East Asian Medicine to learn about the heterogeneity of individuals in processing illnesses. This lecture will 1) discuss the usefulness of three Yin and three Yang in the practice of acupuncture and East Asian Medicine; 2) introduce practical application of constitution (in particular, Four Constitutional (Sasang) Medicine) in diagnosis and treatment. At the end of the lecture, the audience is expected to comprehend how to 1) match yin/yang division with organ functions; 2) understand pattern and disease susceptibility of four types by Sasang constitutions.
