Workshop title

Diagnosis with added reality

Workshop times

Saturday 1000 - 1100

Workshop description

Diagnosis is essential: otherwise we are just sticking pins into patients at random.  But it doesn’t tell the whole story and doesn’t answer many of the puzzles and questions we have about our patients.

The diagnostic categories and concepts we use every day represent the accumulated wisdom of thousands of remarkable practitioners down the ages, and it would be ridiculous to ignore them, but they are only partial descriptions.  For there is a gap between these generalisations and the reality of your patient in your treatment room.

It is all too easy to assume that the distortions and disturbances in each patient’s energy must be captured by one of the constitutional factors or syndromes in the textbooks. But with many patients, there is a gap between the generality of the textbooks and individuality of your patient, and then you have to find ways to bridge the gap.  This talk describes a few of those bridges.

Speaker biography

John Hamwee qualified as a practitioner at the College of Traditional Acupuncture in 1990 and has been in full time practice ever since.

His work has been informed and influenced by the Integration course at C.I.C.M and by Dr Fritz Smith, medical doctor, osteopath, acupuncturist, and creator of Zero Balancing, whose clear descriptions of the human energy body and the powerful concepts he has developed helped John every day in the treatment room.  They have also been the foundation of the five books he has published, two specifically for acupuncturists, one on Zero Balancing and two others about energy more generally.
